Ms. Yu Fanying, the Honorary Chair of the Nanjing University Board of Trustees, is leading a delegation on a visit to the School of Environment

On January 5, 2026, Ms. Yu Fanying, Honorary Chair of the Nanjing University Board of Trustees and Chair of the Yu Jizhong Culture and Education Foundation in Taiwan, led a delegation to visit the School of the Environment. Ms. Yu and her delegation conducted an exchange seminar with Gu Cheng, Director of the Office of Global Engagement and Director of the Office of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs; Cai Dandan, Deputy Director of the Office of Global Engagement and Deputy Director of the Office of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs; Zhao Yu, Vice Dean (acting) of the School of Environment; and faculty representatives from the Office of Global Engagement, the School of Environment, and the Nanjing University Environmental Planning and Design Institute. The seminar focused on reviewing the progress of water ecological protection and governance in China, as well as exploring advancements in water pollution control and water treatment technologies.

Gu Cheng warmly welcomed Ms. Yu Fanying and her delegation, expressing gratitude to the Yu Jizhong Culture and Education Foundation for their longstanding support of the university and the school. Zhao Yu presented the school's innovative practices and significant achievements in disciplinary development, talent cultivation, and platform construction. Special emphasis was placed on advancements in water environment governance and social services. Faculty representatives, including Huang Hui and Wang Jinfeng, shared the latest research developments in water quality risk control technologies, water pollution equipment and standards, and the application of artificial intelligence in water pollution control.

Ms. Yu Fanying attentively listened to the presentations and shared her observations on the significant changes and rapid advancements in water environment governance in China during her tenure at the China Times Culture and Media Group. She expressed enthusiasm and satisfaction with the school's continuous innovations in water treatment technologies, affirming its dedication to high-level scientific research and technological development aligned with international frontiers and national environmental protection needs. Ms. Yu encouraged the school to sustain its strong development momentum and enhance its contributions to emerging environmental technologies and national environmental protection efforts within the context of climate change.

Prior to the seminar, Ms. Yu and her delegation, accompanied by Gu Cheng, Zhao Yu, and others, visited the School of Environment's exhibition hall and laboratories.

Ms. Yu Fanying holds a master's degree in science and business administration from Stanford University. She currently serves as Chair of the Yu Jizhong Culture and Education Foundation, Chair of the Stanford Academic Foundation, and CEO of the Huaying Culture and Education Foundation. Additionally, she is a member of the review committee for the Cultural Award of the Taiwan region's administrative authorities and a standing director of the Taiwan Competitiveness Forum. Her prior roles include Vice Chair of the China Times Culture and Media Group, Publisher of the Commercial Times and the China Times Evening News, Chair of China Times Information Co., Ltd., and member of the Central Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang.

Ms. Yu has long managed the operations of the Huaying Culture and Education Foundation. In 2020, as CEO, she donated over 1,000 pieces of disinfection and sterilization equipment, along with anti-epidemic supplies, to Nanjing University and Southeast University. She has made multiple visits to Nanjing University to participate in the evaluation of the Huaying Scholars Program and to enhance academic exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and mainland China. Previously, her father, Yu Jizhong, and her spouse supported the construction of the Yuhui Building at Pukou Campus of Nanjing University and the Jizhong Building at its Xianlin Campus.
